Dr. Allen is a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontics.

Courtenay Allen, DDS MSD

Dr. Allen, a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists, opened her practice here in 1997. Today, in addition to serving patients through her practice, Dr. Allen also serves as part-time faculty at the University of Washington (UW) School of Dentistry’s department of endodontics, recognized as one of the premier programs in the nation. She also has guided students and residents at Swedish Medical Center’s dental residence program.

Dr. Allen completed her pre-doctoral studies at the University of Maryland with a degree in microbiology, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from dental school at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She completed her hospital-based general practice residency at UW, seeing patients at the University of Washington Medical Center, the Seattle/Puget Sound Veterans Affairs Health Care System, at Seattle Children’s Hospital and at Harborview Medical Center. She continued specialized graduate studies at UW, earning a combined Certificate in Endodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry, in an extended program of training and research.

She stays current on techniques and technology through her teaching and with continuing dental education programs and affiliations with the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Washington State Dental Association, the Seattle King County Dental Association and the Washington State Association of Endodontists.

Avina Paranjpe, BDS, MS, MSD, PhD

Dr. Paranjpe is a specialist member of the AAE, a professor and Graduate Program Director at the University of Washington School of Dentistry Department of Endodontics and is in private practice here one day a week. Dr. Paranjpe graduated with her BDS from Mumbai University in 2000. After two years in private practice she obtained her Master’s degree as well as her PhD in Oral Biology and Immunology from UCLA in 2004 and 2007 respectively. She then earned her Masters of Science in Dentistry (MSD) and Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Washington Endodontic Program in 2009 after which she joined the faculty at the University of Washington. As faculty she teaches the dental students, the endodontic residents and conducts research.

Shahd Nawari, DMD, MS

Shahd Nawari, DMD, MS

Dr. Nawari completed her dental degree at University of Florida College of Dentistry receiving the Molar Endodontic Award for excellence in Endodontics. Upon graduation, she practiced general dentistry in West Florida for a few years. She then decided to get back to school in order to pursue her career in Endodontics obtaining her Master’s Certificate in Endodontics at University of Florida.

Her research evaluated the Efficacy of 3D File Systems in the Removal of Gutta Percha and Sealer in Retreatment Procedures using Nano CT Technology. It is important to mention that the endodontic program at University of Florida is one of the strongest in the country, with excellent faculty and resources, both clinically and academically. Shahd served our profession and community in different positions, providing care to underserved population in Florida and Jamaica.

Outside her professional career, Shahd enjoys biking, hiking, attending sports events and exploring the diverse food scene of the Pacific Northwest.

Jeanna, office manager

Jeanna has worked with Dr. Allen since the practice opened in 1997. She takes pride in working with a group of colleagues who provide excellent specialized dentistry in a comfortable, caring environment.

Fun fact: Jeanna is an avid scuba diver and recently had the honor of being an underwater videographer for the connection that created the longest underwater cave system in the world!

Dace, dental assistant

Dace has been part of the U Village team since 2002. She’s originally from Latvia, where she had a career in nursing. Fortunately for us, she moved to the Seattle area and into the dental field. Dace and her husband are raising two children.

Fun fact: Dace speaks three languages!

Tanner, dental assistant

Tanner has been with U Village Endodontics for the past two years. He recently graduated from the University of Washington with honors in Human Evolutonary Biology as well as Medical Anthropology and Global Health. He is now preparing to start dental school in the fall (and hopefully return here as an endodontist)!

Fun fact: Tanner rescued a three-legged dog named Oreo!
